High Level RCMP arrests, charges and obtains conviction for 2024 shooting

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., members of the High Level RCMP responded to reports of multiple shots fired, in what was later determined to be a targeted shooting. High Level RCMP located the suspect vehicle attempting to flee the area of High Level and were able to stop and arrest a suspect.

A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest revealed:

  • A loaded prohibited firearm;
  • 9mm ammunition;
  • Cocaine; and
  • An additional prohibited weapon.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old individual, a resident of John D’Or Prairie, was charged with:

  • Reckless Discharge of a firearm;
  • Pointing a firearm;
  • Possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition;
  • Possession of firearm and ammunition contrary to order (x4);
  • Using firearm in the commission of an offence;
  • Other firearm-related offences (x4); and
  • Possession of cocaine.

On Aug. 21, 2025, the individual entered a guilty plea and was convicted of:

  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence;
  • Pointing a firearm; and
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order.

The individual was sentenced to 913 days, with 410 days of credit for time served.
