On Aug. 22, 2025, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CADCRU) conducted a joint operation in Edmonton, which resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old individual. The individual was wanted on 33 outstanding charges originating from Edmonton, Redwater, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, and Swan Hills, Alta. Furthermore, the individual was also wanted for Escape Lawful Custody out of Saskatoon, Sask.
Officers located the individual at an Edmonton residence. When officers attempted to effect the arrest, the individual fled on an electric pedal bike. Following a brief attempt to evade police, the individual was safely taken into custody by members.
The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody with various dates and court houses.
“Targeting repeat and prolific offenders is a team effort, and this arrest is a strong example of how crime reduction units across Alberta work together to protect our communities. By combining resources and expertise, we’re able to ensure offenders like this are brought before the courts,” says Cst. Tom Rutland, Wetaskiwin RCMP.
