The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is reminding the public to be mindful of online fraudsters, following recent report of online scam.

On August 22, 2025, a victim unknowingly provided personal details to a fake banking webpage after clicking on link while trying to sell and item in an open online market.  Later the victim received a fake call saying that a fraud had taken place and to place bank cards in an envelope and leave in the mailbox for pick-up.  The cards were collected and used shortly after.

“As part of the investigation video footage of the alleged suspect was obtained,” said Corporal Dana Napier, spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP.   “In order to advance the investigation, we are releasing an image of the suspect with the hopes to identify him.”

The Kamloops RCMP would like to remind the public to do banking in person and that banks do not use couriers to collect bank cards or personal information; remain vigilant online and refrain from sharing personal or banking information.

If you think you or someone you know has been a victim of fraud, please click on the link to report fraud to the  Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or call 1-888-495-8501.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-27710.
