On September 15, 2025, at 7:45 am, RCMP Central Traffic Services received a report of a multi-vehicle collision on the North Perimeter Highway, just east of the intersection with Pipeline Road, in the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul.

Officers from RCMP Central Traffic Services and the Selkirk Detachment responded immediately.

The investigation has determined that a dump truck, travelling westbound, approached the intersection, controlled by a traffic light, when it collided into the rear of several other vehicles which were stopped at the traffic lights. These vehicles then collided into another vehicle stopped at the intersection.

One driver, a 46-year-old male from Winnipeg, required extrication and was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other two drivers involved, a 35 and 45-year-old males also from Winnipeg, were not injured.

The driver of the dump truck, a 65-year-old male from Winnipeg, failed a roadside screening device and was subsequently arrested for Impaired driving. Once at the detachment, he refused to provide a breath sample.

The driver was later released for court where he will appear on numerous driving-related offences. His driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle he was operating was seized for a mechanical inspection.

RCMP Central Traffic Services, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
