On September 15, 2025, at approximately 8:30 pm, Winnipegosis RCMP were dispatched to a report of an assault in the community.

Officers responded immediately and, as they were exiting their vehicle, encountered the male suspect who was walking out of the residence. He was placed under arrest.

Further investigation led officers to a nearby house where an adult female and two children under the age of 10, were located. It was determined that the male had assaulted the adult female and the children. All were treated by EMS for minor physical injuries.

As officers were transporting the 23-year-old male suspect to the detachment he became highly aggressive towards police. This continued while at the detachment, and while being escorted to cells, he attempted to grab one of the officers. A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to grab the neck and vest of the officer.

The suspect was eventually brought under control, and the officer was uninjured. He remains in custody and is charged with the following:

  • Assault while choking x2
  • Assault with a weapon x2
  • Uttering threats against a person
  • Fail to comply with release order x2
  • Assault x2
