On October 11, 2025, at 8:05 am, Thompson Rural RCMP responded to multiple reports of a 21-year-old male discharging a firearm in the community of Thicket Portage.

RCMP officers from Thompson Rural and Thompson City responded immediately to the community.

Officers established a perimeter surrounding the suspects home and property and, within a short period of time, observed the suspect walking out and in the possession of two firearms.

The suspect was approached, placed under arrest and ordered to drop the firearms. The suspect refused to comply with demands and fled on foot into the wooded area.

Officers continued their containment of the area and observed the suspect attempting to flee on an ATV to which he was not successful. The suspect once again fled into the wooded area on foot.

The pursuit of the suspect led to a shed located on his property where he was once again located, placed under arrest and ordered to the ground. He refused to comply with demands by police and resisted arrest. A Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) was deployed and was effective in taking the 21-year-old male safely into custody.

A search of the shed led to the seizure of three firearms.

RCMP have charged 21-year-old Drayden Dick, of Winnipeg, with Careless use of a firearm, Breaking and entering and Resist arrest. He was remanded into custody.

Thompson Rural RCMP continue to investigate.
