A 34-year-old man has been arrested following a police operation in Moncton, N.B.

On August 30, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP attempted to arrest an individual at a residence on West Lane in Moncton for a break and enter that occurred earlier the same morning.

When police arrived on scene, the 34-year-old man refused to cooperate with police and brandished an axe at the officers. He then barricaded himself inside the residence.

Responding officers set up a perimeter, and specialized policing services were contacted to attend the scene, including the New Brunswick RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team.

A short time later, the ERT entered the residence and arrested the 34-year-old man. The man suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

On August 31, 2025, 34-year-old Philippe Bolduc, from Moncton, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, obstruction of a peace officer and assault with a weapon on a peace officer. He was remanded into custody pending a future court appearance.

The incident did not meet the criteria for an Alert Ready.

The investigation is ongoing.
