The St. Stephen RCMP has seized drugs and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in St. Stephen, N.B.

On September 14, 2025, at approximately 5:10 p.m. members of the St. Stephen RCMP detachment observed suspicious activity near the intersection of King Street and Hamilton Lane in St. Stephen. A man was seen approaching a parked vehicle, engaging briefly with the driver, and then walking away. Police believed this to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction.

Minutes later, police located the same vehicle at a nearby gas station and initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle was leaving. The driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man from St. Stephen, was found to be driving with a suspended licence. The man was arrested, and the vehicle was towed.

He was later released from custody.

Police later executed a search of the vehicle and found approximately 20 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine, as well as cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing.
