RCMP Federal Policing, Eastern Region announces that four individuals have been charged with illicit cannabis production. The individuals are:

  • Marc-Antoine Kingsbury, 31, of Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka
  • Taya Leboeuf, 25, of Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka
  • Xavier Brault-Cartier, 30, of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu
  • Maxime Schinck-Villeneuve, 33, of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield

During a May 2024 operation in the Valleyfield region, two indoor grow operations, one located in a home and the other in a warehouse, were dismantled.  Searches also led to the seizure of a total of 27 kilograms of dried cannabis and 316 plants.

According to the Valleyfield Detachment’s investigation, Marc-Antoine Kingsbury, with the help of his co-accused and front men, produced cannabis for illicit purposes using Health Canada documentation authorizing production for personal medical purposes.

The four individuals are facing multiple charges under the Cannabis Act and the Excise Act, 2001, in particular for producing, possessing and distributing cannabis. They appeared yesterday at the Valleyfield Courthouse.

Appeal to the public

The RCMP reminds the public that producing cannabis for the purposes of trafficking using Health Canada medical production certificates is strictly prohibited. Health Canada issues certificates authorizing an individual to produce a limited quantity of cannabis for their own medical needs only.
