The RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region (NWR) is advising residents of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) trial exercise along the Canada-U.S. border in Manitoba between Oct. 15-25, 2025. The exercise will occur in temporary Restricted Airspace between the Tolstoi Port of Entry (Highway 59) and the International Peace Gardens (Highway 10), 5 Nautical Miles (approximately 10 km) north of the Canada-U.S. border.

This RPAS exercise is part of the NWR’s ongoing commitment to strengthen border security and advance effectiveness. The temporary Restricted Airspace allows the RCMP to test a variety of RPAS systems while prioritizing public safety and airspace deconfliction.

The NWR would like to reassure the public that this exercise is part of ongoing police operations which align with the existing RCMP RPAS corridor initiative, and there is no cause for any public safety concern.

Flying in temporary Restricted Airspace:

The RCMP would like to advise that the airspace in the trial area will be temporarily restricted between Oct. 15-25, 2025. All aviation traffic must refer to local NOTAMs.

Flying in the RCMP RPAS Corridor:

Outside of the trial area, the RCMP continues to operate in the RCMP RPAS Corridor which extends from the ground to 500 feet, to 1 Nautical Mile north of the border (1.85 km). The RPAS corridor is being trialed in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, to enhance security and support the safe, coordinated use of drones within Canadian airspace along the Canada-U.S. border. For more information about the RPAS corridor, please refer to your local NOTAMs.
