Bell Island RCMP arrested a 55-year-old driver for impaired driving on Sunday morning.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. on September 14, a Bell Island RCMP officer on proactive patrol performed a traffic stop on a vehicle along Lighthouse Road. Prior to pulling the vehicle over, police observed the vehicle being driven in an erratic and unsafe manner.
The driver, a 55-year-old man, showed signs of alcohol impairment. He was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Bell Island RCMP Detachment, where he provided samples of his breath that were twice the legal limit.
The man’s license was suspended and his vehicle seized and impounded. He was released from custody and will appear in court at a future date.
