Colchester County District RCMP charge man with attempted murder

Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man with attempted murder after an assault in Debert.

On September 7, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation between two men outside of a home on Clinton Dr. in Debert. When RCMP officers arrived, they found one man with life-threatening injuries. The other had fled prior to police arrival.

The victim was transported to hospital by EHS.

On September 8 at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers safely arrested Bradley Metlin, 26, of Debert, at a residence on Passchendaele Ave. in Debert. Metlin is charged with Attempt to Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on September 9.

Investigators do not believe this was a random incident; the victim and suspect are known to each other.

Officers have executed search warrants at a residence in Debert as part of the investigation. The investigation is continuing and is being led by Colchester County District Community Action Team with support from general duty officers, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, the Northwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, and RCMP Digital Forensic Services (DFS).
