Kings District RCMP have charged a man with assault causing bodily harm and other offences in Greenwood.
On September 15, at approximately 3:12 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault at a shopping plaza bus stop on Central Ave. Officers learned that a man was struck in the face by another man on the bus.
When officers arrived on scene, security pointed out the man who had struck the victim, hiding behind a building. An officer approached the man who then attacked the officer. A second officer arrived and was assaulted trying to have the man comply with instructions. The second officer deployed a conducted energy weapon and the man was then safely arrested.
The victim and officers were treated by EHS for minor injuries. The charged man declined to be seen by EHS.
Allen Edward Shaw, 32, of Middleton, has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assaulting a Peace Officer (two counts), and Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts).
Shaw was held in custody and appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on September 16. He was released by the court on conditions and is due to appear again on October 21.
