East Hants District RCMP, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, Halifax Regional Police, and other policing support units collaborated to arrest and charge a man for multiple robberies and other offences.
On September 8, East Hants District RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a business on Hwy. 214 in Elmsdale. Officers learned a man threatened a clerk with a knife before leaving with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The man was seen driving a small silver or grey hatchback (File #: 2025-1332549).
On September 9, East Hants District RCMP responded to a report of a stolen truck from a business in the 1000 block of Hwy. 214 in Belnan. Officers learned a Ford F150 truck was stolen from a parking lot where a Hyundai Accent, was left behind. The Hyundai Accent is believed to be the vehicle used to flee the armed robbery in Elmsdale the day before, and was stolen on September 6 from the 1500 block of Dresden Row, Halifax (File #: 25-129326 and 2025-1337874).
On September 10, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of an armed robbery at a gas station in the 1000 block of St. Margarets Bay Rd in Beechville. Officers learned a man pointed a firearm at the clerk and demanded money from the till. He left with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The firearm was recovered at the scene and was determined to be an imitation (File #: 25-131536).
With the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, forensic evidence was gathered from the recovered stolen Hyundai Accent, and a suspect was identified as Kyle Joshua Heath, 39, of Dartmouth. An arrest warrant was obtained for Heath and his description and possible vehicle, the stolen Ford F-150, was broadcasted to Nova Scotia police officers.
On September 12, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Halifax Regional Police officers observed truck matching the suspect description on Quinpool Rd. and recognized the driver as Heath. A traffic stop was attempted but Heath did not stop. HRP officers pursued the truck to a dead-end road where Heath and a passenger fled on foot. Heath was safely arrested and the passenger was released without charge.
