RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a home invasion involving youths that occurred in Lower Sackville.
On September 20, at approximately 11:53 p.m., officers responded to a report of individuals being sprayed with a sensory irritant during a disturbance at a residence on Hillside Avenue. Upon arrival, RCMP officers located several youth victims who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. EHS attended the scene to provide medical assistance.
The investigation revealed that four masked youths entered the residence, where a group of youths had gathered. Once inside, a pellet gun was discharged, and one occupant was assaulted. The suspects then fled the residence and deployed a sensory irritant in the driveway, affecting multiple individuals, including a nearby resident who had come outside due to the commotion.
Four persons of interest were quickly identified based on information gathered at the scene. A coordinated search of the area was initiated with assistance from Halifax Regional Police Dog Services and an RCMP drone. Two youth suspects were subsequently located and safely arrested at a residence on Alder Crescent. They have since been released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court at a later date.
Today at approximately 10 a.m., RCMP officers executed a search warrant at the Alder Crescent residence. The investigation is ongoing, and officers continue to gather information and evidence.
At this time, investigators do not believe the home invasion was random. Additional arrests are anticipated.
