Iqaluit woman charged with multiple hit and run

Damaged police vehicle

On July 25, 2025, at around 5:00 p.m, the Iqaluit RCMP received a report that a vehicle had been stolen.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and attempted to pull it over by activating their emergency lights and siren, but the driver refused to stop and fled from police. This occurred multiple times time around the city, but police were able to eventually stop the vehicle by the Iqaluit baseball diamond. The driver was arrested and placed into police custody.

During the incident three different vehicles were damaged, including a marked police cruiser. There were no serious injuries.

The Iqaluit RCMP have charged Jolene Padluq (age 18) with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle, Section 333.1(1) C.C
  • Dangerous Operation, Section 320.13(1) C.C
  • Failure to Stop after Accident, Section 320.16(1) C.C
  • Flight from Police Officer, Section 320.17 C.C
  • Two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer, Section 270(2) C.C
  • Robbery, Section 344(1)(b) C.C
  • Assault, Section 266 C.C

Padluq was released from custody and her next court appearance is scheduled for August 21, 2025, in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
