Clyde River RCMP charge 49-year-old man with Sexual Assault

On October 20, 2025, the Clyde River RCMP with the assistance from the Nunavut RCMP’s, Specialized Investigative Team (SIT), charged Sandy Kautuq (age 49), with fifteen Criminal Code offenses, which include:

  • Four counts of Sexual Assault, contrary to Section 271 C.C
  • Eight counts of Sexual Exploitation, contrary to Section 153 C.C
  • One count of Sexual Interference, contrary to Section 151(1) C.C
  • Two counts of Assault, contrary to Section 266 C.C

On October 21, 2025, Kautuq was remanded into custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for November 4, 2025, in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

The investigation began following a report received in September 2025. As it progressed, additional victims came forward regarding incidents that occurred between January 2016 and September 2025.

To protect the identity of the victims, no further information regarding the investigation will be released at this time.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine if there may be other victims.
