Behchokǫ̀ RCMP respond to reported stabbing

One person is in custody after police responded to a stabbing in the community yesterday.
On August 19th at approximately 10:14 a.m. officers received a call that two men were fighting. Upon arriving at the scene, police located a man laying on the ground with multiple stab wounds. The lone suspect appeared to have fled the scene. First aid was provided to the victim until paramedics arrived.
Additional resources including a Police Dog Services member, the Emergency Response Team and a Remote Piloted Aircraft System were deployed to the community to assist. The suspect was located nearby walking on the street and was arrested without incident. A knife believed to be used in the assault was located by Police Dog Services.
As a result, 24-year-old Keanu Lafferty of Behchokǫ̀ has been charged with Aggravated assault, contrary to section 268(2) of the Criminal Code. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
