Fort McPherson RCMP respond to a commercial vehicle rollover

Fort McPherson RCMP responded to a commercial vehicle rollover on the Dempster Highway on Wednesday, August 13.

At approximately 10:11 a.m. on Wednesday, Fort McPherson RCMP received a call for service to respond to an accident west of the Peel River on Highway 8 (Dempster Highway), after receiving a report of a vehicle rollover.

When RCMP officers arrived on scene, they observed a commercial vehicle transporting diesel fuel overturned in the ditch.

Fort McPherson RCMP provided traffic control, while the NWT Department of Environment and Climate Change dispatched a team to manage the diesel fuel spill. The NWT Department of Infrastructure was also on site. Traffic was reduced to one lane traffic and the Peel River ferry was temporarily closed for a few hours.

The driver sustained minor injuries and transported to Inuvik for further medical care.

Fort McPherson RCMP is continuing to investigate the cause of this accident.
