G Division Major Crimes Unit charge one man after serious assault causing death

G Division Major Crimes Unit has laid a manslaughter charge in the serious assault case that took place on July 31st, 2025, in Behchokǫ̀.

As reported on August 5th, Behchokǫ̀ RCMP were called to a serious assault in the community on July 31st. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

G Division Major Crimes Unit started an investigation, with assistance from the Forensic Identification Services and the NWT Coroner Service.

Following this investigation, Peter John Zoe, 69, from Behchokǫ̀, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter contrary to section 236(b) of the Criminal Code.

Zoe has been released under conditions.
