Tulita RCMP is still assisting in the search for 16-year-old River Clement, who has been missing since Friday, August 15th, 2025.

River Clement, from Tulita, was last seen at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15th.

Extensive searches on water and land have been conducted over the past three days by search and rescue teams, joined by community members.

The Canadian Rangers were mobilized over the weekend to support search efforts on land and water. A Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel in the area searched the river and the shorelines in the area on Friday. North-Wright Airways also conducted an aerial search of the area.

Tulita RCMP members are also patrolling the Mackenzie River with community members and liaising with family members to provide support.

Despite extensive searches, no sight of River Clement has been reported on the river or on land.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., on Friday, clothing and a cell phone believed to belong to River Clement were found in a boat drifting on the Mackenzie River.

Based on this evidence and the amount of time that has elapsed since his disappearance, the chances of finding River alive are diminishing, and search and rescue operations are now focused on recovering his body.

The Tulita RCMP extends its heartfelt sympathy to the community and will continue to assist in bringing River Clement to his family.
