Yellowknife RCMP respond to reported drowning

Police are investigating after a person was reported to have drowned yesterday at Long Lake.

On August 21st at approximately 7:45p.m. the Yellowknife RCMP received a report of a possible drowning at Long Lake. It was reported to police that a person had been paddleboarding when they went under the water and did not resurface.

The fire department and emergency medical services were already on scene. Officers responded and began an investigation.

The victim, a 32-year-old male, was recovered from the water by the fire department and lifesaving efforts immediately began but were unsuccessful.
This investigation remains ongoing in partnership with the Coroner’s Service.
