Search and rescue efforts have formally ceased today for a boater reported missing from Fort Resolution.
On September 3rd, 2025, Fort Resolution RCMP received a report that a 35-year-old male boater had not returned to the community.
An RCMP search manager was assigned to the matter and an extensive search took place.
Despite exhaustive efforts on the part of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Civil Air Search and Rescue, the Canadian Rangers, RCMP assets including a police dog handler and remote-piloted aircraft operator and numerous local volunteers, the man was not located.
This matter will now transition from a search and rescue operation to a missing persons case. The RCMP expresses our deep gratitude for the hard work done by all parties involved in the search. Our thoughts are with the family of the missing person at this time.
