Fort McPherson RCMP charge youth after drug and cash seizure

One youth suspect has been arrested and charged after police in Fort McPherson seized a quantity of drugs and cash.
On September 26th, Fort McPherson RCMP received information from the public indicating that drugs were being sold at a residence in the community. Officers attended the location and found a suspect attempting to flee through a window.
The suspect, a 16-year-old male from British Columbia, was arrested. A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence. In total, police recovered approximately 20 grams of suspected crack-cocaine and over $10,000 in cash.
The youth, who cannot be named as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with:
• Possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Failure to comply with release order conditions, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
At the time of his arrest, the youth was already subject to bail conditions stemming from prior firearms-related offences.
He was held for a bail hearing was released again by a Judge on conditions that he return to British Columbia.
