On August 20, 2025, Angelina Marina Jacqueline Bernard was arrested and remanded into custody. She has been charged with impaired driving causing death.
On June 27, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., RCMP and first responders attended a single-vehicle collision on Route 163 in East Bideford. Two passengers — a 22-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both from Prince County — were pronounced deceased at the scene. Another occupant, a woman in her 20s from Prince County, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
With assistance from the Major Crime Unit and the Prince District Joint Forces Operations (JFO), Prince District RCMP Investigators completed their work, which led to the arrest of Bernard on August 20, 2025. She has been charged with the following offences:
Impaired driving by drug causing death (two counts)
Impaired driving over 80 mg% causing death (two counts)
Bernard is scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court on August 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
“Investigations of this nature are time-consuming and involve many elements that must be prepared for court, including medical records, professional reports such as traffic reconstruction, and comprehensive witness statements,” said Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis, Commanding Officer of the Prince District RCMP. “The Prince District RCMP, supported by the RCMP Major Crimes, Joint Forces Operations, and RCMP Lennox Island First Nation Liaison Officer, worked tirelessly to bring this matter to justice. This arrest serves as a stark reminder that impaired driving is never acceptable and has devastating consequences,” added Lewis.
