Earlier in the evening, Prince District RCMP had been advised of a dory observed on the waters of Egmont Bay, offshore from Enman Shore Road in North Enmore. A witness reported that the boat had remained stationary for several hours as daylight faded, which was considered unusual. The witness noted that a man was on board. While police were en route, the witness reported seeing distress flares in the same area.

The Tyne Valley Fire Department launched boats to assist in the search, and the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was engaged. Land-based searches were also conducted, but no results were found. No truck or trailer suitable for transporting this type of vessel has been located.

Search operations from last night did not find anything and are ongoing today.

At this time, neither PEI RCMP nor New Brunswick RCMP have received any reports of missing persons that could be linked to this incident.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to contact East Prince RCMP at 902-436-9300.
