RCMP Call Off Search for Possible Missing Boater

On August 23, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a report of distress flares, possibly originating from a fishing dory in Egmont Bay.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was engaged, and the Tyne Valley Fire Department and RCMP carried out a comprehensive two-day search by land and water. No person, boat, truck, or trailer associated with the report was located, and no individuals have been reported missing in Prince Edward Island or New Brunswick.

At this time, police have called off the search. East Prince RCMP would like to thank all those who assisted in this investigation.
