RCMP arrest four impaired drivers over the weekend across PEI

On August 29, 2025, at 9:20 p.m., Prince District RCMP received reports of a vehicle crossing the centre line in Inverness before ending up in the ditch. A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene for impaired driving by alcohol.

Earlier that day, at 2:09 p.m. in Hunter River, Queens District RCMP responded to multiple reports of a vehicle swerving on the roadway. Police located the vehicle and found children inside. The 38-year-old man driving was arrested for impaired driving by drug. Police thank those who reported suspected impaired driving, those calls make a difference.

On August 30, 2025, at 5:40 p.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a motorcycle crash that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries. During the course of the investigation, a 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene, for impaired driving by alcohol. This impaired driving investigation is not connected with the motorcycle crash.

At 12:52 a.m. on August 31, 2025, RCMP Traffic Services in Dunstaffnage stopped a vehicle for speeding. The traffic stop led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man for impaired driving by drug.

“These arrests highlight the ongoing danger impaired drivers pose on our roads,” says Cpl. Gavin Moore, Media Relations Officer with the PEI RCMP. “Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs puts everyone at risk — including children, passengers, and other road users. We remain committed to removing impaired drivers from Island roads.”
