Update: Spiritwood RCMP investigating fatal collision involving ATV

Spiritwood RCMP arrested an adult male in relation to the collision on September 9.

As a result of continued investigation, 33-year-old Richard Bear from Pelican Lake First Nation is charged with one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, Section 320.13(3), Criminal Code and one count, failure to stop after accident resulting in death, Section 320.16(3), Criminal Code.

He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on September 10, 2025.

Spiritwood RCMP investigating fatal collision involving ATV

On September 6, 2025, just before 9 p.m., Spiritwood RCMP responded to a collision on a road near the mall on Pelican Lake First Nation.

Investigation determined a vehicle and an ATV collided. The driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot.

The operator of the ATV was declared deceased by EMS at the scene of the collision. He has been identified as a 26-year-old male from Pelican Lake First Nation. His family has been notified.

Spiritwood RCMP are actively investigating the collision with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist. Investigators continue working to locate the driver.
