Battlefords RCMP arrest armed male with help from police dog

On October 24, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received multiple calls about a male threatening people with a machete on 108 Street in North Battleford.

Officers immediately responded and observed two males. One was arrested, but was later released without being charged. The second male ran away from police.

Investigation determined the male attempted to steal a cell phone from someone, and also smashed a vehicle’s windows. No physical injuries were reported.

A police dog tracked the male to a nearby house, where officers arrested him. A firearm magazine was located during his arrest. The machete was also recovered.

As a result of continued investigation, 18-year-old Dante Bugler from North Battleford is charged with:

- one count, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;

- one count, robbery, Section 344, Criminal Code;

- one count, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code;

- one count, resist peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code; and

- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code.

Dante Bugler appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on October 27, 2025.
