Saskatchewan RCMP has arrested Clayton Fontaine. Court appearance details are pending.

7:31 p.m.
As a result of continued investigation, La Loche RCMP have charged 31-year-old Clayton Fontaine from La Loche with:
- one count, attempted murder with firearm, Section 239(1)(1.a), Criminal Code;
- one count, aggravated assault, Section 268, Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a firearm knowingly without a license, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, unlicensed possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, possession of a firearm while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, discharge firearm with intent, Section 244(1), Criminal Code.
Officers continue working to locate and arrest Clayton Fontaine and residents of La Loche can continue to expect an increased police presence.
Clayton Fontaine is described as approximately 6’3” and 200 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has a number of small tattoos on his face, and several on his neck including a large rose.
If you see Clayton Fontaine, do not approach him. Contact police immediately.

Residents in La Loche may notice an increased police presence as La Loche RCMP investigate a shooting.
On October 31, 2025, at approximately 5:20 a.m., La Loche RCMP received a report of a shooting outside of a residence in La Loche. Officers responded and located an injured adult male, who was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature. Investigation determined an altercation occurred between a group of individuals. A firearm was discharged, injuring the victim. The shooter, an adult male, fled on foot.
La Loche RCMP and other supporting Saskatchewan RCMP units are now actively investigating the shooting in the community and working to locate and arrest the suspect.
People are asked to avoid the areas where police officers are present and follow any police direction provided.
We will provide an update on this investigation as soon as we are able. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public.
