Carcross RCMP investigation into threats leads to three people being charged with multiple offences

On July 23, 2025 at 4:50pm Carcross RCMP received a report of threats involving a firearm and theft from a property.
The suspect vehicle was located by Carcross RCMP but fled from police. The Yukon RCMP Critical Incident Program was called out to respond which included the Emergency Response Team, Crime Reduction Unit, Police Dog Service, Whitehorse Detachment officers, and the General Investigation Section. This vehicle was located at 7:00 pm in a location south of Whitehorse and three people were safely arrested.
Three firearms, two which were loaded, $3000 cash and cocaine were seized from the vehicle. Three individuals are facing a total of thirty-eight charges.
Michael Steven Ross Bland (age 45) of Whitehorse:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Three counts of Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle
- Two counts of Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Three counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
Lorne Free Ryan-Mckinnon (age 27) of Tagish:
- Fail to Comply with Probation
- Two counts of Fail to Comply with a Release Order
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Three counts of Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Two counts of Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Three counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Uttering Threats
Desiree Shawnelle Minet (age 30) of Whitehorse:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Three counts Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Two counts of Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Three counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Uttering Threats
Following bail hearings, both Michael Bland and Desiree Minet were released and are next scheduled to appear in Territorial Court August 6, 2025. Lorne Ryan-Mckinnon remains in custody.
