On August 25, 2025 Pelly Crossing Detachment members responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on the Cantilever Bridge, also known as the Pelly Crossing Bridge, located at mile marker 464 on the North Klondike Highway.

On August 25 at 10:18 pm police responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck on the Cantilever Bridge. This was a multiple agency response with assistance from Carmacks RCMP, Yukon Department of Highways and Public Works, Emergency Medical Services from Pelly Crossing and Carmacks and the Carmacks Fire Department.  The road was closed for several hours and reopened at approximately 1:30 am.

The semi-truck was carrying an oversized load and escorted by pilot cars. While crossing the bridge, the pickup truck struck the oversized trailer. The driver of the pickup was deceased on scene and the passenger was transported to Whitehorse General Hospital with injuries. Both the driver and passenger of the pickup truck are Pelly Crossing residents.

Pelly Crossing Detachment members with the assistance of the Yukon Coroner’s Service continue to investigate this collision. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.
