The Whitehorse RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) has filed charges as a result of their investigation into a two-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 10:30 pm on September 28, 2025 on the Alaska Highway near the Crestview neighbourhood in Whitehorse.
A minivan being driven in a northbound direction and a minivan taxicab that was being driven southbound collided head on. The collision resulted in the death of 64-year-old Ricky John, and his dog. The driver of the taxi and his passenger were injured and both required hospitalization.
As a result of the investigation, 23 year-old Amanpreet Brar, has been charged with three Territorial Motor Vehicle Act offences, specifically, crossing a double solid line, driving carelessly and driving left of the center line.
Amanpreet Brar will make his first court appearance on November 18, 2025 in Whitehorse.
As this matter is now before the courts, Whitehorse GIS and the RCMP will not be releasing any further information related to the investigation.
