Victim identified in fatal Maple Ridge shooting

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is identifying the victim of an August 13, 2025 shooting in Maple Ridge, as 24-year-old Austin Baillie of Maple Ridge.  

Background

On August 13, 2025, at approximately 12:22 a.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received the report of a shooting near 246 Street and 124 Avenue. Police located an unresponsive victim with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in the 24000-block of Dewdney Trunk Road. Despite life saving measures the man did not survive.

IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continues to work in partnership with the Ridge Meadows RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS).

Update

In an effort to further the investigation, IHIT is now identifying the victim as 24-year-old Austin Baillie of Maple Ridge. 

Based on initial investigative steps, investigators believe that this was a targeted incident. 

Investigators have identified a vehicle they believe to be connected to the shooting, a newer model, white Nissan Rogue

“Our team is pursuing all investigative avenues while following the evidence to understand the circumstances of the shooting and homicide of Mr. Baillie,” says Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT. “Investigators are looking to speak with those who knew Mr. Baillie and may have information related to this homicide.”

IHIT is asking that anyone that may have information about the white Nissan Rogue or those who have dash camera or CCTV footage from August 12, 2025 at 11:00 p.m. and August 13, 2025 at 1:00 a.m. in the following two areas, to please contact IHIT:

• 24000-block of Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge
• 246 Street and 124 Avenue, Maple Ridge
