A 31-year-old man has been charged in relation to the homicide of Edi Bogere whose body was discovered in January of 2020.
Background:
On January 11, 2020, the body of 24-year-old Edi Bogere was found in a vacant forested property in Maple Ridge. Upon assessment of the scene by the Ridge Meadows RCMP, his death was determined to be suspicious, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called to investigate.
Initial investigation led police to believe that Mr. Bogere was last seen leaving his Coquitlam home on the evening of December 27, 2019.
IHIT worked in partnership with the Ridge Meadows RCMP, the Coquitlam RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to further the investigation.
Update:
IHIT investigators worked diligently on a years-long investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr. Bogere’s death which resulted in the identification of the suspect.
On December 19, 2025, IHIT investigators arrested 31-year-old Alan Mohammed Taheri of Port Coquitlam for the homicide of Edi Bogere. The BC Prosecution Service approved one count of second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of indignity to human remains against Mr. Taheri.
“Homicide investigations can take years of hard work and patience, and this is just one example of the meticulousness that homicide work entails,” says Supt. Mandeep Mooker, Officer-In-Charge of IHIT. “These are complex investigations and reaching the charge approval stage doesn’t happen overnight. We commend the investigators for their persistence, and we thank Mr. Bogere’s family for their continued trust and support throughout this investigation.”
As this matter is now before the court, no further information will be released.
