IHIT File # 2026-302

Background:

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a fight in progress at a residence in the 23700 block of 110 Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a 49-year-old man in medical distress. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the man did not survive. One man was arrested and taken into custody.

IHIT has continued to advance this investigation with the support of the Ridge Meadows RCMP Serious Crime Unit, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the BC Coroners Service.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated event where parties were known to each other.

Update:

On March 17, 2026, 45-year-old Darcy Robb, was charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm in relation to the incident and he remained in custody.

As the investigation progressed, investigators consulted with the BC Prosecution Service for ongoing charge assessment as new evidence became available.

On March 23, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service upgraded the previous charge to one count of manslaughter against Mr. Robb in relation to the death of the 49-year-old man. Mr. Robb remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

“This investigation moved quickly and investigators continued to follow the evidence to understand the circumstances surrounding the death,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “Through meticulous work with our policing partners and a thorough review of facts, we submitted additional evidence to the BCPS. IHIT would like to offer our condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased.”
