IHIT File # 2026-1006

On October 14, 2026, at approximately 1:07 p.m., Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers responded to a report of a found body in the 6100-block of 156 Street in Surrey. Upon arrival, first responders located a deceased man.

Based on initial observations at the scene, criminality was suspected, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to investigate.

IHIT is working in partnership with SPS, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the BC Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Investigators are working to positively identify the deceased.

IHIT is asking anyone who was in the area of the 6100-block of 156 Street in Surrey between October 8 and October 14, 2026, and who may have information relevant to the investigation, to come forward.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area during this period.

“This investigation is in its early stages, and significant work is underway as we conduct a forensic examination of the area where the deceased was located,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “It is critical for us to establish a timeline of events leading up to the man’s death, and we are asking anyone with information to contact IHIT.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
