IHIT File # 2024-678

Background:

On June 16, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a call at a residence near the 9800-block of 182A Street in Surrey. Upon arrival, police located a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Tory Dunn, suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, Ms. Dunn succumbed to her injuries. A man was taken into police custody for further investigation.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) assumed conduct of the investigation and continued to work in partnership with the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the BC Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding Ms. Dunn’s death.

On June 28, 2024, the BC Prosecution Service approved one count of second-degree murder against Adam Troy Mann in relation to the homicide of Ms. Dunn.

Mr. Mann was detained by the court and has remained in custody since his arrest.

On October 5, 2026, a jury trial commenced at the BC Supreme Court in New Westminster before Justice Layton. The trial concluded on October 21, 2026.

Update:

On October 21, 2026, the jury found Mr. Mann, now 42, guilty of second-degree murder in relation to Ms. Dunn’s death.

A conviction for second-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence, with a period of parole ineligibility ranging from 10 to 25 years, to be determined by the trial judge. The matter is next in court on October 29, 2026, to schedule a date for the sentencing hearing.

"This guilty verdict reflects the collaborative efforts between IHIT and our policing partners, and the work of Crown Counsel at the BC Prosecution Service," says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “As we await sentencing, IHIT investigators and victim services continue to support Tory’s family and others impacted by this tragic crime.”
