Calls of interest:

A 19-year-old man from Mission is facing numerous charges after an incident on the afternoon of April 16.  Shortly before 2 pm, police received a report that the suspect threatened to shoot a 22-year-old with a pellet gun.  Officers from Mission RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit located the suspect walking on 7th Avenue near Strachan Street.  As soon as officers pulled up, the suspect took off running.  Fortunately, one of the Crime Reduction Unit members on who first pulled up is also a very fit officer, and was able to catch-up to the 19-year-old in short order. He pulled the suspect to the ground mid-stride, and another officer attended to help take him into custody, as the suspect was allegedly seen reaching toward his waistband.  Once in handcuffs, police located a hatchet tucked into one side of his pants, a knife tucked into the other side, and gloves, a mask, and bear spray in his backpack.  Mission RCMP are recommending charges of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and obstructing a peace officer.

Mission RCMP were called to a residence on Fennell Street at 1 pm on April 14, after an astute neighbour saw a man with a backpack hop a security fence and enter the house, which has been vacant due to a recent fire.  When officers pulled up, the man scaled the fence again and ran off.  Police surrounded the area and waited for a police dog to arrive.  A member of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service arrived minutes later, and deployed his dog in the area.  The duo tracked from the residence into an area of heavy brush, where the police dog located the suspect and took hold of one of his arms until officers could get him into handcuffs.  The suspect was not seriously injured and did not require a trip to the hospital.  He was taken to jail instead.  His backpack was found to contain a number of tools consistent with items used to break into various locations.  The 31-year-old Mission man is also facing an additional charge of breaching a Release Order from a previous offence, which specifically required him not to possess certain break and enter tools.

A white Ford F-550 flat-deck truck was stolen from 5th Avenue near Stave Lake Street during the overnight hours of April 17-18.  On the afternoon of April 18, the truck was located 14 kilometres up the Chehalis Forest Service Road, stuck on a stump, with the engine running and rear tire still spinning, but no one around.  The vehicle was recovered, to be returned to the rightful owner.  No suspect was identified.

On the afternoon of April 18, Mission RCMP were called to a retail store on London Avenue after a woman tried to pay for some items with a counterfeit $100 bill. The cashier declined to take the money, and instead notified police.  Officers found a woman matching the description of the suspect sitting in a pickup truck in the parking lot.  She was arrested for uttering counterfeit currency.  A search of her and the vehicle located additional counterfeit currency, as well as suspected Methamphetamines.  Criminal charges are being recommended.
