Criminality cannot be ruled out in a fatal collision in the Fraser Valley, so BC Highway Patrol is looking for more witnesses and dash camera video to figure out the exact cause of the crash.

On October 30, 2025, at 6:50 p.m., a white Hyundai SUV collided with a black Hyundai sedan in the westbound lanes of Highway #1 near Laidlaw, BC. A 29-year-old Mission woman who was a passenger in the black Hyundai did not survive the crash. The driver of the black Hyundai, a 65-year-old Agassiz man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries while two other passengers in the black Hyundai, along with the driver of the white Hyundai, received minor injuries.

“Hope and Agassiz RCMP got to the scene immediately, but BC Highway Patrol has now taken conduct because we cannot rule out a criminal cause for this crash,” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “We will need to investigate thoroughly, gather dash camera video, and speak to more witnesses to get a conclusive idea of what happened.”

If you have video of what happened in the minutes leading up to the crash, or you saw concerning behaviour from either the black Hyundai sedan or the white Hyundai SUV, call BC Highway Patrol – Chilliwack at 604-702-4039 and quote file (1501) 2025-46642.
