April 21 - Break and enter to vehicle
Police received a report of a vehicle break‑and‑enter in the Popkum area that occurred overnight. Various tools and other items were stolen from the truck. The owner believes the vehicle may have been left unlocked, and no signs of forced entry were observed. No witnesses have come forward. Police remind the public to lock vehicles and remove valuables whenever possible.
April 21 – Disturbance on industrial way
Police responded to multiple calls regarding a woman walking into traffic on Industrial Way in Agassiz. Officers located the woman, who was exhibiting signs of intoxication. While officers were attempting to ensure her safety, she became uncooperative and attempted to flee. She was safely taken into police custody for her own well‑being and held until she was able to care for herself. Fortunately, she was not injured and no collisions occurred.
April 22 - Collision on Agassiz Rosedale Bridge with injuries
At 6:30 pm officers attended a two‑vehicle collision on the Agassiz‑Rosedale Bridge which shut down traffic in both directions. One vehicle lost control and rolled onto its side against the bridge railing. A second vehicle was unable to avoid a collision with the disabled vehicle. Both occupants required assistance to be removed and were transported to hospital with injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor; however, driver error is suspected. The investigation is ongoing. The bridge was reopened to traffic by 11:30 p.m.
April 24 – Mischief in neighbourhood
Police responded to a report of a woman allegedly frightening her neighbours and young children in an area near Harrison Lake while brandishing an edged weapon and causing property damage. Officers safely took the woman into custody. She was assessed for her well‑being and later released with a court appearance scheduled for a later date.
April 20 – Excessive speed
An officer patrolling Highway 9 in Agassiz observed a truck travelling at a high rate of speed near McDonald Road. Police radar confirmed the vehicle was travelling 92 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The driver was pulled over, expressing his displeasure by using several profane remarks towards the officer, and issued a violation ticket for excessive speeding. The vehicle was towed from the roadway and impounded.
