IHIT called to Burnaby to investigate fatal shooting

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called to Burnaby following a shooting which has left one person deceased.
Just after 6:30 PM on November 5, 2025, Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of shots fired near McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street. When police arrived on scene, they located a male victim. Despite life-saving efforts, the man did not survive.
Shortly after, officers located a vehicle on fire at Kingsway and Inman Avenue. Investigators are working to determine whether there may be any links to the shooting.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, it’s believed the shooting may have been a targeted incident. Police do not believe there is any further risk to the public. Officers will remain in the area gathering evidence as the investigation continues.
IHIT has now taken conduct of the investigation, and future updates will be shared by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
IHIT investigators are looking for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video or CCTV in either area, McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street, as well as Kingsway and Inman Avenue, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., on November 5, 2025.
