Volunteers with Chilliwack RCMP Crime Prevention Services are integral to our service delivery. Volunteering offers unique opportunities to serve the community and an entry point into the RCMP.

The busy holiday shopping season often brings an increase in shoplifting and theft of personal and valuable items from vehicles.

In response, police officers with the Community Response Team (CRT) partnered with the Organized Retail Crime Association of BC for a “Boost and Bust” initiative. During the project, officers arrested shoplifters at local retailers and individuals with outstanding warrants.

Supporting these efforts, volunteers from Crime Prevention Services distributed auto‑crime alert notices to ICBC Autoplan insurance locations across the city and engaged with the public in mall parking lots, encouraging shoppers to secure their valuables and prevent auto theft.

The auto‑crime alert notices provide information on how to secure vehicles and property. While a vehicle is parked, the notice can be hung on the rear‑view mirror to send would‑be criminals a clear message: there is nothing to steal inside.

The notices are available free of charge at select ICBC Autoplan insurance locations and at the Chilliwack RCMP detachment (in English and French), while supplies last.

We encourage the public to always remove personal and valuable belongings from vehicles and to report all suspicious or criminal activity to police. Reports allow us to respond in a timely manner and to identify suspects and trends.
