Chilliwack RCMP is advising the public that charges have been laid in relation to a 2023 break and enter investigation.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on November 18, 2023, frontline officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a jewellery store in the 7300‑block of Vedder Road.

The investigation that followed was extensive and required coordination across multiple RCMP units and external partner agencies. Members of the Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit, working alongside the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS), conducted detailed forensic analysis, canvassed nearby businesses for surveillance footage, and pursued numerous investigative leads.

As a result of this work, investigators identified a suspect and submitted a report to BC Prosecution Service for charge assessment.

On January 14, 2026, Mitchell John Andonov was charged with two counts of break and enter. He has been arrested and remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.

“This was a complex investigation that involved several police jurisdictions and unfolded over a few years,” says Cst. Hannah Sutton of the Chilliwack RCMP. “The teamwork and persistence displayed throughout this investigation highlight our commitment to thoroughly advancing files through the judicial process”

The RCMP continues to encourage business owners to keep their security systems current and to report suspicious activity.
