Week of March 2 – 8, 2026

It was another busy week for our officers in Chilliwack, marked by a high volume of calls for service and proactive work. Below are some of the key files and activities from the week.

  • Total Calls for Service: 747
  • Impaired Driving: 13
  • Arrest Warrants Executed: 9
  • Assaults: 20

An officer observed a man riding an e-bike on Bole Avenue with what looked like a can of bear spray hanging out of his pocket. The man was arrested and found to be in possession of a replica handgun, defaced prescription pill bottles, and suspected illicit substances. Police learned the e-bike was stolen from a neighbouring community and will be returned to the rightful owner.

An unknown man reportedly threw a rock through the front door of a bike shop in downtown Chilliwack. Numerous items were taken by the man before he fled on foot.  Video footage was obtained by the police.  A short time later, police attended to a report of a dumpster fire at a veterinary hospital nearby. Items located in the dumpster are believed to be linked to the suspect in the earlier break and enter. The investigation remains open as officers pursue several leads.

Police received a report of a vehicle collision involving three vehicles on a school property in Sardis.  It was reported that the driver had been “drifting” at the time of the collision.  No alcohol was involved and fortunately no one was injured, however the driver was issued a Violation Ticket and the vehicle was towed.

An employee from an electronic store on Luckakuck Way reported a man, known to the business, had just stolen an E-scooter.  Shortly afterward, a nearby recycling centre reported the same man refusing to leave, brandishing a weapon, and threatening staff. Police identified the man as the same individual from the earlier theft. He was arrested and will appear in court at a later date.

A traffic stop was conducted by an officer in downtown Chilliwack. Two replica hand guns, drug paraphernalia, and suspected illicit substances were observed inside the vehicle. The two occupants were arrested and the driver will be appearing in court at a later date.

A homeowner on Chilliwack Lake Road reported an intruder inside their residence who was being restrained until police arrived. Police responded immediately and arrested the intruder.  The man, who is known to police, was in possession of a replica hand gun and had numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest. The man was held for court. Thankfully no one was injured in this incident.

Our Traffic Section was active over the weekend, generating numerous proactive files and participating in an enforcement blitz with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE).

Activity included:

  • 93 Violation Tickets issued
  • 15 vehicles ordered for inspection
  • 1 Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP)
