Coquitlam RCMP announce guilty pleas after lengthy firearm related offence investigation

Following a lengthy police investigation into a 2022 shooting incident in Coquitlam, 20-year-old Mohammad Amin Heidari and 29-year-old Joshawa James Michael Hall have pleaded guilty to firearms-related charges and have received custodial sentences.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. on June 18, 2022, Coquitlam RCMP responded to reports of shots fired near Clarke Road and Hobbis Way in Coquitlam. Upon arrival, frontline officers located several people suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators identified Heidari and Hall as the suspects who had fled the scene before police arrived. Officers were able to locate Heidari and Hall and took them into custody.
Heidari plead guilty to the following offences:
- 1 count of possession of prohibited/restricted firearm- Section 92(2) of Criminal Code
- 1 count of reckless discharge of a firearm- Section 44.2(1)(b) of Criminal Code
- 2 counts of criminal negligence causing bodily Harm- Section 221 of Criminal Code
Hall plead guilty to the following offence:
“An extensive and highly detailed investigation was conducted by the Coquitlam RCMP Major Crime Section, culminating in successful guilty pleas.” Said Inspector Aaron Lloyd, Coquitlam RCMP Operations Support Officer. “This outcome reflects our continued commitment to ensuring public safety and serving the communities we are proud to protect.”
On May 6, 2025, Heidari was sentenced to 72 months in prison. The court also imposed a lifetime Section 109 firearms and ammunition prohibition, and an order that the offender provide a sample of his DNA to the national databank.
On October 6, 2025, Hall was sentenced to 12 months in prison. The court also imposed a lifetime Section 109 firearms and ammunition prohibition.
