Coquitlam RCMP seeking witnesses and video to an alleged assault with a weapon.

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Coquitlam RCMP frontline officers responded to an alleged assault with a weapon in the 2800 block of Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam.  The victim was transported to a local area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the injuries, Investigators have not yet been able to speak with the victim.

The suspect left the area on foot prior to police arriving and investigators are actively working to identify him.  At this time Investigators do not believe the suspect and victim were known to each other.

“Our officers are working diligently to determine identify the suspect,” says Acting Corporal George Han, Media Relations Officer with Coquitlam RCMP. “We are asking anyone who may have information, CCTV, cellphone or dash-cam video in the area of the 2800 block of Shaughnessy Street between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm. to contact our investigators and quote file number 2026-931.”

Coquitlam RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) has conduct of this active and ongoing investigation.
