Coquitlam RCMP continue to receive reports of alleged threats against schools in Coquitlam.
On February 6, 2026, Coquitlam RCMP received additional reports of alleged threats against schools in Coquitlam. School safety protocols were enacted and Coquitlam RCMP quickly responded to ensure the safety and security of students and staff.
To date, no corroborating information or evidence has been identified indicating students or staff were at risk.
Police follow established protocols to respond to alleged threats of this nature. Police response and investigative steps are intentionally cautious to prioritize safety, even when no corroborating information or evidence is identified.
“We understand the frustration and concern that the public may feel in response to these incidents,” says Coquitlam RCMP Media Relations Officer, Sergeant Adriana O’Malley. “However, we want to remind the public that these incidents are designed to create fear and gain publicity. Publicly circulating or amplifying unverified information can contribute to further disruptions.”
Police will continue to respond and investigate while working collaboratively with the Coquitlam School District to ensure appropriate measures are in place.
Coquitlam RCMP General Investigation Section has conduct of these active and ongoing investigations. Making a false police report is a criminal offence and investigators are working to identify the individual(s) responsible so they can be held accountable.
