Fatal collision south of Dease Lake

On May 8th, 2026, at approximately 12:15 pm, the Dease Lake RCMP received a call about a single vehicle collision which resulted in one fatality.
Dease Lake RCMP responded to a report by a local road maintenance worker of a car that had been located down an embankment south of Dease Lake with a deceased male nearby.
The MVI occurred approximately 30 km south of Dease Lake in Upper Gnat Pass.
Early investigation indicates the lone male occupant of the vehicle swerved and went off road and appears to have been ejected from the vehicle. No criminality is suspected. The cause of the incident is unknown at this time.
Emergency Health Services attended and the male was declared deceased.
The area of Hwy 37N is now open directions.
Police are asking for anyone that may have witnessed the collision to please come forward.
